This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I advise a senior class of 600 as they get ready to tackle college applications and accept college acceptances with the best financial aid packages possible. A majority of our students are minority students who want to achieve a higher education but either have no experience with it and need advice/ support in achieving their dreams.

They have all faced unique struggles in their lives, but manage to be so optimistic and hardworking about their goals.

After getting to know these students this past year, I want to give them all I possibly can.

My Project

On College Signing Day, we celebrate all the hard work that our seniors have put into the year and look to future with high hopes as they go off to pursue their dreams. We chose laptops so that our students have the necessary equipment to succeed in college or whatever post secondary pursuit they have. Working with a large percent of students who are first generation students and may not know how to navigate the college lifestyle, we want to make sure they have it easier by providing some of them with technology that is needed to succeed. We find that students who do have the right materials and face less barriers are more likely to finish college and achieve a higher education.
