Laptop Mouses Need to find their Way to Second Grade!
Help me give my students the opportunity to utilize their laptops and online resources. Our second-grade students are learning to take online tests with hand me down laptops where the mouse pad/sensor is worn out.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The rainforest comes with 10 million different types of species. All living, thriving and contributing to their habitat. When I think of my past students and soon to be students, they come from different paths. They come from a low socio-economic status, some with limited English Language, single-parent families and as well as hard-working parents. We also have kids with academic disabilities along with students who are gifted and talented. They come to us, some hungry for knowledge, others who are just hungry for food, and some hungry for attention. They all come to contribute to my teaching and OUR classroom.
It's important to teach kids they ALL can be valuable participants in our classrooms, schools, and communities.
My students have proven to overcome adversities at their own pace. They have learned the word "YET" in second grade. They NOT allowed to say "can't" in a sentence, but they must end that sentence with "YET." When given the opportunity and a seed of hope, and most importantly the RIGHT RESOURCES, I believe ALL of my students are capable of succeeding.
My Project
My students have 1:1 Laptop Chromebooks however they are hand-me-downs with keys missing, cracked edges, sound not working, and the mouse pad/sensor is worn out. Our district requires our second graders to take online tests for the first time which require students to use the cursor and mouse pad to select and highlight information and answers. Up to date technology is needed in order for students to show their best work.
If my students had a connectable computer mouse, they would be able to access online content at a faster pace.
There wouldn't be any discrepancies between their written work versus their online work. The tool of a simple mouse will help my student tremendously. It will ease their frustration and anxiety because they will no longer worry about selecting the wrong answer or highlighting the correct information. Or let alone having sore fingertips from trying to select the right answer choice. With your help, I can prepare my students for 21st Century learning.
