I work for a Title I school located in Texas that was impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Some of the students have been displaced due to the hurricane but that does not stop their excitement to come to school every day! Our students come from diverse families, such as English Language Learners and special needs. As a Title I school 100% of our students are given free breakfast as well as lunch. My goal is to encourage my students and to create a safe learning environment and make learning fun! I want each child to come to school ready to learn and continue to love learning.
My students need new laptops to help with intervention time and to help with research projects. In our classroom we currently have very outdated desktop computers that normally do not work or freeze up when we are using them. Having these laptops will allow the students to work on different projects together and be used for our intervention time for iStation and other programs. When my students are able to routinely access these programs, it helps strengthen their foundational skills needed to be "on level readers" and learners.
My students will have the opportunity to use these tools during intervention time and small group where they can solve, think, and discuss various solutions to problems together while sharing their strategies and ideas.
The Apple adapter will be used during whole group time. There are so many amazing things on our iPad that it will be great for the students to be able to use it as a whole group. Right now only a few students are able to use the apps at a time due to the limited supply.
