I took an opportunity that morning to greet students in the hallways by showing off our new instruments. It was so much fun to see the joy on all of their faces at the surprising sound and the interesting mechanisms of these instruments. Later that week, each class was introduced to them during their music rotation and it was a blast to see that spark of curiosity reflected in students of every age. \r\n\r\nFourth grade students have been the main focus of this project, and they certainly took to their new musical tools quickly. The eagerness to explore has been wonderful. I think what I've enjoyed most is the ease with which students can improvise and explore on their own with the keyboards. While most wind instruments have a steeper learning curve for success, every student has been able to create their own simple melodies and work on reading and playing familiar tunes as well. We even learned the chorus of Wham's \"Last Christmas\" leading up to the holiday season. \r\n\r\nYour contributions are so deeply appreciated! My fifth grade students have been asking for weeks now for their own melodica time, and several of my students have put an instrument on their holiday wish list! I hope to expand our inventory in the future. These instruments have brought tremendous joy to my students and our entire O'Connor Frog Family.
