I teach in a very diverse school made up of children from many different cultures, family backgrounds and academic levels. All of my students are English Language Learners, meaning English is not their first language. Many of these students speak their native language at home and cannot receive much support from their parents because of this language barrier. Many of my students qualify for free and reduced price lunch, which means their families face financial hardships at home.
Even with the hardships these children face, they come to school happy and excited to learn each and every day!
I strive to provide a safe, comfortable, and enriching environment for my students so that they can become successful, responsible citizens in the future!
My 1st and 2nd grade EL students are working hard to improve their writing skills. They are learning to write independently, and I would like to offer them some flexible options for writing time.
Flexible seating gives students the opportunity to choose what type of setup works best for them.
My classroom is shared, and we have limited space for tables and chairs. These linking stools can not only be used as seating, they also function as lap desks! They will allow students another option for writing when the tables are occupied by their peers. I think having these lap desks will increase their on task behavior, and allow them a sturdy space to express their ideas in writing!
