My Students

We have a collection of ELD and Freshman from the entire school district. I have the pleasure and honor to teach one of the most diverse talented groups in all of San Ramon.

Our students can be seen as representatives from around the world.

My Project

DVHS English Language Learners are by far the most impressive group of students. Their diverse population complements our studies as they bring rich backgrounds and different understandings of the world around us. I hope to capitalize on this by transforming my classroom.

My goal is to invite students to study history through a lens of differentiating languages.

As we progress through history class, they create a portfolio of work that shows their language progression. To begin the year, they will create a thesis statement derived from their world perspective and collect resources to support their findings. I strongly believe that differentiating lessons based on leveled language acquisition can help ELD students acclimate and succeed in the American school system. The requested Chromebooks will be used to access translators to help with language acquisition. We will be using Google Chrome apps to better research and translate material needed to gain a better understanding of world events.
