I have the honor of working with our newcomer students in kindergarten. Most of our students' first languages are Spanish or Hmong. Having books that are bilingual and reflective of our students' diversity is important. Reading books in which students can make connections will help them.

One goal I have for my students is speaking in long full sentences. One way I can motivate students is through playing games and having conversations while they are playing. We also work on learning English and having phonics games that can build their vocabulary is an important component to their success at school.
