Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in special education, moderate to severe, grades K-2. My students range from wheelchairs, autism, and intellectual developmental disabilities, are verbal and non-verbal, and love to learn and play.
I have 10 children enrolled with various needs and individualized goals.
They all have specific goals on their IEP which is an Individual Education Plan that presents their current level of development and designs a specific plan and strategy for them to achieve functional performance. They are bright, beautiful children.
My Project
The materials requested will provide opportunities for my students to improve their language development. I have students who are verbal and non-verbal who meet the criteria for a language disorder. They exhibit inadequate acquisition, comprehension, or expression of spoken language that is significantly below the language performance level.
This project will help me guide the lessons that will teach and provide positive learning outcomes.
We are short on resources and materials, and this project will ensure opportunities for growth in their receptive and expressive language. The materials will help provide specific literacy and language practice and allow us to rotate materials and provide literacy learning in various ways that children learn, whether it be visual, auditory, or tactile.
