This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are phenomenal! I am a co-teacher in a kindergarten, first and second grade class. The students are energetic and full of zeal. They are eager to learn. I teach in an inclusion class which has general education students as well as students with special needs. I love to create interactive activities that stimulate their minds.
I want language to come alive for my students!
I want to create a puppet theater in the classroom where students will write their own stories and plays and then act them out.
My Project
The students will use their imagination to write stories and plays. They will have a chance to act them out using puppets in our puppet theater. The STEAM puppets will be used to incorporate science into our stories. We will dabble in the various genes creating fairy tales, fables, realistic fiction as well as non-fiction based on their lives. The multicultural puppets will help by creating stories about various cultural holidays. We love to celebrate each other and where we come from!
Puppets are not only for play!
We will also create our own puppets and use them to create a time line of our year. Students will use the pipe cleaners, glitter glue, wiggly eyes and puppet forms to create individual puppets. My students will absolutely love to create and act out their stories!
