Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach students who are improving their Spanish. It is a class specifically for heritage learners. These students come to me with little to no exposure to the academic Spanish. Many of them enter my class thinking they won't be able to read and write. However, within a few weeks they are able to do that and more. My students enjoyed reading their first novel in Spanish that was funded by Donors Choose and are excited to read a second novel.

This novel would introduce my students to Frida, an icon in the Hispanic community.

This book will also allow me to introduce Frida's work and implement the arts!

I am also including in this request, contact paper to be able to preserve the books!
