Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Classroom materials can be split into two types of categories. The first category are materials that teachers use to teach that aren't touched by students. The other category are materials that students touch. Sometimes these things are touched only once by students. Other times these items are touched multiple times during the day, week, and month. These items need to be very durable to survive the multiple student uses. This project will help fill a classroom need for these type of items. It will help me to not waste time and money reprinting the same items. Educational materials can be printed once and then laminated to protect them from student misuse.
Laminated paper and card stock create strong, reusable classroom materials and manipulatives.
These materials can be used by students in the classroom multiple times to help create better understanding. For example, students in my class need to learn how to count money. If I use regular paper, the fake money will be ripped up pretty quickly. If that fake money is printed on card stock and then laminated, the students will be able to handle it many times. During my ELA lessons, my students do word sorts and read various short passages for text structures. If those words and passages are printed on laminated paper, multiple students can use them during small group lessons. The project's materials will go a long way to filling a current missing need of the classroom.
