This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a Title I school teacher with a large population of students living in poverty, we are faced with a variety of challenges daily. Most concerning is the number of students who have experienced horrific trauma in their young lives. I take great pride in providing my fifth graders with a positive and safe school experience. I am very fortunate to teach in a school where expectations for children and staff are high.

Students at our school and in my classroom rise to meet our high standards, both academically and behaviorally even while families are still rebuilding their lives after hurricane Harvey.

They are active, eager, and engaged. Our students are spirited scholars, working hard to overcome their challenges and grow to be the best that they can be.

My Project

My classroom needs laminating sheets and Velcro dots so I can create adapted work binders and tasks.

Students in my classroom love these binders and tasks.

The binders are interactive with the Velcro and durable with the think lamination to have students work on Individual Education Plan Goals. It also will help make task workboxes to be interactive for all subjects including math, reading, science, and social studies.

Making everything with Velcro allows the students to stick the answers to the correct spot. The laminating sheets are more durable and allow longevity to the materials in the classroom.

Students with Autism Spectrum disorders need tasks that are organized and durable.
