Lakota Ethno-Botanists Catalogue the Flowering Plants of Ghost Canyon

My Project

My indigenous students are interested in traditional plants used in ceremonies, for food and medicinal purposes. They are also very interested in all flowering plants and enjoy pressing them.

This year we have adopted a 70-acre field site for ethnobotanical studies (Ghost Canyon).

We will begin making professional herbarium mounts of all the flowering plants we encounter in Ghost Canyon with the supplies (professional plant presses, blotter paper, ventilators, Botany glue, Botany paper and other supplies) you are providing us. This will be an ongoing project as we hope to use this research site for many years to come for ethnobotany classes.
