My Students
My students are from all walks of life. Most of them come from lower income families who have one parent households. The ages range from 14-18, which are freshman to seniors.
My kids need equipment to help with their skills to enhance their everyday knowledge and fundamentals of basketball.
For the majority of them, basketball provides a release of the everyday stresses teens see, whether it be from home life, personal life, relationships or school. Basketball is an outlet they can use to help channel their frustrations. It challenges them, and helps them with essential daily life skills.
My Project
This past season, my girls had a lot of knee injuries. Bumps and bruises were just a start. (There are multiple listing of knee pads below due to different sizes.)
I am hoping to help prevent some of that with knee pads so they can continue to get on the floor for loose balls and won't be so hesitant to hustle on the court.
We were also not fortunate enough to get matching team shoes. I thought I would try to surprise them with at least getting matching team socks to wear on game day that represent our colors.
Lastly, we go through three score books a year when playing freshman, junior varsity and varsity games during a season. We are in need to restock for the years to come.
