This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are special to me in many ways. The school in which I work is located in the Bronx, NY. This area has a diverse population and culture. Many of the students come from hard-working families with low-income. Due to this, students may suffer from a lack of resources that may enhance their ability to learn. This puts them at a distinct disadvantage, as compared to those who are fortunate enough to have been raised in a home where parents have provided the initial steps towards literacy. Some of those who missed these critical first steps have been slowly falling behind. I will be here to guide, support, and provide them with all of the necessary essentials that can promote a healthy and positive learning environment.

My Project

For this project, I am requesting a label machine. As we know, labeling is very important in the primary grades. It is especially important because labels provide visual cues to the location of items throughout the classroom. It makes it much easier for the students to have the visuals presented in front of them. It also gives students the opportunity to be independent and move comfortably and safely throughout the room. Also, I am requesting a laminating machine. With this machine, I will be able to preserve paper and use the material over and over for student learning. For example, I can create flashcards in every subject for the students that need extra support. In addition to reusing the materials, they can be easily wiped clean with the mini dry erasers when they are finished and get ready to reuse them again for the following lesson.
