My second-grade students and I live in beautiful Minnesota where an increasing number of families within our district are falling into the lower economic levels. Many families find it more and more challenging to spend quality time with their children after demanding work schedules.
Due to the current pandemic situation, my students and I are staying at home and distance learning.
My class is larger than usual and includes students from two-second grade classrooms.
These kids’ eager, smiling faces encourage me every day to give them experiences and opportunities that will last their lifetime. We encourage each other to be the best we can be by learning cooperation, integrity, respect, responsibility, and independence.
My Project
Kids love being rewarded for all the great things they do and teachers love giving kids the praise they deserve. While distance learning, rewarding students for their effort, participation, and improvement is difficult so I want to mail their rewards directly to them! A “kudo” through the mail!
Children get so excited when a letter is delivered with their name on the envelope.
My students will be even more excited and feel recognized when they discover the envelope contains a certificate of praise, a pencil with an encouraging message, and fun stickers that reward their progress and behavior in our Google Meet classes.
With your help, I will have a supply of items to send to my students who deserve praise, recognition, and emotionally uplifting. When a student feels valued, they are more engaged and willing to participate. I want to make sure that even with my large class, every child feels seen, heard, and vital while learning from home.
