Students come to me without their own personal supplies, so I provide everything we use in my room. We use lots of writing materials.\r\nSome of our supplies get everyday use, such as our dry erase markers. Others are used on a more situation by situation basis, such as when we make word cards or color in pictures that go with what we read. That might be a time we'd pull out the fun, metallic markers. We use our writing boards almost every day to practice the phonics skills we are learning in 1st grade.\r\n\r\n1st graders learn best through hands-on, structured activities that allow them to practice skills independently and at their own pace. With the laminator/laminating sheets I have been able to print and laminate materials for my students to use for reading and math centers daily, which help students develop foundational skills, focus on the task and build independence. \r\n\r\nWhen materials are organized and easy to use, students feel successful and motivated to keep learning.
