My Students

I have many unique readers who are discovering their love of reading this year. They include readers who struggle, experienced readers, and readers still searching for their favorite genre.

At the middle school age, it can be difficult to find a large selection of books.

My goal is to find books that interest my students, offer them selections at many reading levels, and give them a chance to explore new authors and topics. Students spend the year exploring units such as Bold Actions, where the main character sets a brave example; Perception vs. Reality, how the world views somethings vs. the individual; Poetry, where the students read to be inspired and write their own; Biographies, to tell the story of someone who came before them and had an impact on the world; Dystopian, for those students that like to escape the reality of everyday life.

These units allow students to explore their interests and offer them a chance to enter a new world. Each student chooses which book they will read for the unit and apply the valuable reading skills that come with each unit.

My Project

The students will be able to check out the books to read right here in my classroom. I chose titles of some of the most popular books that students can grab right off my shelves. Students will check out a book and they will be reading it within seconds of checking it out.

This project will get the books in the hands of students to enhance their love of reading.
