Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the proud teacher of a 2nd grade dual language class. Spanish is the native language of most of my students. However, they are eager to learn English and practice it at every opportunity.
The materials that I am requesting will support them as they learn English and develop their skills in reading, writing, speaking, and math.
There are several items listed, such as the WCA Build-A-Sentence Game, that will help my students learn how to properly write sentences in English. This is an important skill they need to acquire as writing a sentence in Spanish can have a different structure. I have also included items that will support my class as they practice and acquire necessary Math skills. This is a curriculum area that is taught in English. I require my students to explain their answers orally and in writing. I believe that items such as Lakeshore Part-Whole Addition and Subtraction Cards will help them to visualize the problem as they solve it and explain their responses.
