This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The student body at our school consists of approximately ninety-five percent high-poverty and at-risk students. Many of my students will be the first of their family to graduate from high school and/or college. They are hungry for knowledge and excited to learn new things.
I see potential in all students and my goal is to help them experience academic success.
My students love the opportunity to practice new skills taught in reading. One of my favorite quotes is “The more you read the more things you know. The more that you learn the more places you'll go."
-Dr. Seuss
My Project
The light up timer is a sure way my students can keep track of thier time and pace themselves accordingly when they are at the reading centers. I love the three colors. This will help my visual students. Green they will know to get to work, yellow finish up quickly time is almost out and red times up start cleaning up.
My students often struggle with identifying and knowing the difference between fiction and nonfiction text.
The fiction & nonfiction paired passages will help my students see the passages side by side helping them to see and identify the difference.
