My students are using the headphones during independent work and learning activities, the cleaning supplies help us keep our shared classroom spaces clean and welcoming, and the pencils and snacks ensure that students have the basic supplies and energy they need to fully participate in learning.\r\nThe snacks were also a great addition, they created a sense of community and showed how small resources can make students feel cared for and ready to learn.\r\nOur next steps are to continue building on our current lessons by giving students opportunities to learn independently while also connecting their learning to their own cultures, experiences, and communities. We are working on activities that encourage students to share their perspectives, collaborate with their classmates, and make connections between what we learn in the classroom and the world around them. With these new resources, students can stay focused, feel comfortable participating, and have the tools they need to show what they know. I am so grateful to our donors for helping create a classroom where every student feels supported, valued, and ready to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1758203012012,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-culturally-responsive-and-saf/9451095/","projectTitle":"Creating a Culturally Responsive and Safe Space for My Learners!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kay","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10073005_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y504&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752011042107","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10073005"},{"teacherId":5791981,"projectId":9622082,"letterContent":"The donated classroom seat pockets and storage bins have had an immediate and meaningful impact on our learning environment. Many students expressed how \"grown-up\" and responsible they felt having a designated place for their materials. The students were immediately fascinated by the new, high-quality materials, with one student exclaiming that the shapes looked like they \"came from a store!\" This quality elevates their engagement and makes learning feel exciting and special.\r\n\r\nThe new machine has allowed me to create custom, hands-on activities that directly target our learning goals. A recent project on letter recognition was transformed when I used the Cameo to cut large, durable felt letters and corresponding picture pockets. Seeing the students successfully match the initial sound of an object to the correct giant felt letter was a moment of true pride, demonstrating how tactile, custom-made materials deepen their understanding. The Cameo allows me to produce these large, classroom-grade resources that small hands can easily manipulate, supporting essential fine motor development.\r\n\r\nOur next steps involve using your generous gift to enhance our unit on identifying and sequencing shapes. We will be creating custom, interlocking magnetic puzzle pieces of different shapes (circles, squares, triangles) cut from magnet sheets. This will allow the students to work collaboratively to build large \"shape murals\" on our classroom board, practicing their fine motor skills and spatial reasoning while learning the properties of each shape. \r\n\r\nThank you for making these essential, hands-on learning moments possible for every four- and five-year-old in our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1758127379484,"projectUrl":"project/a-cut-above-enhancing-learning-with-a-c/9419681/","projectTitle":"A Cut Above: Enhancing Learning with a Cutting Machine","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8295383_orig.jpg?crop=432,432,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738959527154","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8295383"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_18073","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":474,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":41,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":52,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"12.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":57.2,"schoolId":18073,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Umphrey Lee Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Umphrey Lee Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/dallas-independent-school-district/umphrey-lee-elementary-school/18073"}
