Last year, I started an after-school knitting club for up to twenty students in 4th and 5th grade. This club was formed at the request of two fourth graders. It was the first time trying needle crafts for most of the members, and many caught on right away. The students learn the basics of knitting during our weekly meetings and also have a chance to build friendships and relax together after a long school day. This spring, we are bringing the knitting club back by popular demand! The current 5th graders are excited to continue crafting, and the new members have been eager to get started on a new skill. There was so much student interest, that the club has doubled its membership and will take place two days per week, instead of just one.
The knitting club members have enjoyed making creative gifts for teachers, classmates, and family members, and bring their supplies home to continue working on their projects in between meeting days.
Some even bring their projects in on rainy days to work on during recess!
We are looking forward to continuing this after-school opportunity this spring and beyond, but we are running low on knitting supplies. Your donation will give our students in the after-school knitting club a chance to continue exploring their creativity and creating more projects.
