My Students

Imagine having to live your life without being able to fix your own food or having to be completely dependent on others to survive. The goal for every special needs student should be to leave school as independent as possible.

I teach a group of amazing special needs students on a non-diploma track.

We are in a community-based class where we focus on life skills to become as independent as possible. We are located in a very urban area in Indiana. It is a very proud community where independence is extremely valued.

My Project

These kitchen tools and refrigerator will help us to establish a life skills area with a kitchen, laundry, and other areas to develop the skills needed to be as independent as possible. With these resources we will be able to work on planning a meal, making a shopping list, how to safely prepare the food, and how to serve it. It will also allow us to invite guests and work on various soft skills needed to be active in the community and workforce.

Your donation will truly provide life changing resources.

You will provide my class the opportunity to gain true independence. They will work and develop many skills we take for granted like cooking, shopping, or washing our dishes. Your gift will send a loud message that you believe that all students have the right to live as independent a life as possible.
