My Students

My students are very passionate about learning and they love to show off their growing skills. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds and strive to be successful every day. Each and every student displays a different strength and skill set to put forth their best efforts in class.

Students in my school strive to showcase their skills, with this project they will learn advanced cooking methods and food preparation skills that will be used in technical laboratory and competition settings.

They have a small but growing background in culinary arts. As growing teenagers and young adults, family and consumer science courses are so important to my students and are truly valued. I am the family and consumer sciences teacher in a low income school district. Our school's family and consumer science program have become a root in our community. Many of my students and students in our district come from households with different family situations. Through this project students would be better able to apply cooking and safe food preparation techniques. Each day students plead for the ability to showcase their technical skills and abilities and with this project they would be able to do.

My Project

These materials will continue to enhance the competition and industry ready classroom that I strive to create. My classroom is a place that my students really enjoy. Every piece of equipment placed in our classroom laboratory and competition kitchens are treated with care. All of these supplies have been carefully selected with food safety and sanitation in mind. Students will be able to choose supplies and materials which will better allow them to complete laboratory experiences as well as practice and prepare for knowledge in food safety and sanitation.

With these new tools, my students will become aware and educated in kitchen safety and sanitation.

They will also be able to utilize tools in order to better understand how bacteria can spread and impact food environments. The best way to increase food safety and sanitation is to keep practicing and applying principles. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in this area and I look forward to what they will be able to accomplish with these new tools.
