This refrigerator will continue to enhance the technologically advanced classroom environment that I strive to create. My classroom laboratory stations are a place that my students really enjoy. I demonstrate skills to them, they complete cooking laboratory experiences there, and they gain the confidence to cook independently! Every appliance currently in my laboratory kitchens are mismatched, outdated, and not functioning to an adequate capacity. All of these laboratory experiences will not be possible to house in our current laboratory kitchens if we do not work to improve what appliances are there. This refrigerator is energy saving and up to date which will allow the students to be able to access and utilize during classroom laboratory experiences. Students will be able to work on life-based skills through this updated appliance which will stress the importance of proper food storage and safe food holding practices, relating specifically to temperature. With this new fridge, my students will be able to participate in classroom laboratory cooking experiences that will allow them to gain knowledge and skills they will use for the rest of their lives. They will also be able to more frequently utilize our classroom laboratory because they will have access to a dependable and up to date appliance. The best way to increase ​participation in our family and consumer sciences classroom is to continue to change with the times and update our classroom facilities/appliances. My students already have shown a deep passion for cooking and I would love for them to enrich their skills and experiences with this updated appliance.
