This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My life skills students are an amazing group of middle schoolers who are learning their way in the world. My classroom supports the needs of these special education students in learning functional skills that in return support them in their daily living. We are fortunate to have access to a classroom with a kitchen that includes a sink, refrigerator, washer, and dryer but I am seeking small kitchen appliances that we don't already have to to expand the range of things I can teach them.

These kitchen appliances will support my students in learning core skills through measurement, following directions, comprehension, increased language output, wait time, cleaning, self-regulation, and independence.

I am asking for a bread-making machine, a bread knife, an adjustable toast slicer, a rotating pizza oven, a blender, an instant pot, and an electric press. All of these will help me guide my students through lots of fun and exciting but also important recipes that they will benefit from knowing how to do and how to use as many kitchen appliances as they can in their futures!
