My Project

In my classroom of 75 diverse 6th graders, there are a number of learning needs, and among those are differentiated learning areas to accommodate the learning styles and needs each brings to the room each day. Many students need movement in order to focus and this type of flex furniture provides just the right amount of focus and motion to keep them engaged and focused on the learning goals each day.

These students come to school with a variety of learning needs such as ADHD, Autism, and Asperger's Syndrome; movement facilitates focus and engagement throughout the process of mindfulness and activates the areas of the brain that build focus and engagement.

With these lap desk and wobble chairs, the students will be more successful and the flexible seating will help scaffold their own internal locus of control so that in the future, these students can be successful even without these supports.
