My Students

A special education teacher I am constantly looking for ways to incorporate new instruction in my English classroom. Many of my students are kinesthetic learners. They love being able to get out of their seat to learn. As a special education teacher, I am constantly trying to find new ways to engage my students.

Lumo Play is an interactive software that will allow me to create interactive lessons and games to support my ELA instruction in my classroom, and I eventually want to incorporate cross-curricular stem application by having the my students create their own interactive activities.

I showed my students a video that showed them the possibilities, and they were so excited to use it.

I teach all of the learning support classes at my school for grades 7-12. My students need the most intensive and unique instruction. I constantly trying to find new ways to keep them engaged. This is just what they need.

Along with the technological materials required for Lumo Play, I will require the pro license which will allow me to create interactive floor games that are specifically applicable to my ELA classroom.

My Project

The Lumo Play software will allow me to create an interactive instruction and game space on my classroom floor. My students love being able to get out of their seats to learn. I often slow down my instruction to allow them to use the interactive whiteboard within my classroom. As students with learning disabilities, they require differentiated instruction with a variety of instructional strategies. This system will require a lot of additional hardware which is why the cost is so great. I also require the pro license so I can create unique, student-need driven, and ELA standards-based games. The individual license, which is considerably less, would not allow me the opportunity to create interactive games to meet the needs of my students in relation to their ELA skills.

Eventually, I want to get to the point where my students are creating their own games, which includes STEM initiatives, because it will require computers at the same time applying ELA skills and content.

This is also the highest level of use of technology application in the classroom: creating.
