My students come from very diverse backgrounds. Many of my students speak a different language at home such as Spanish, Armenian, Russian, Vietnamese, etc.
Most of my students come from homes that are economically disadvantaged.
Over 90% of students at my school qualify for free/and or reduced breakfast and lunch. Many students do not have access to a computer and the internet at home. Many students come from a home where the parents are unable to help them with their homework.
My Project
I plan to use the Kindle Fire Tablets during my small group teaching time. With a class of 35 students it is important to meet with small groups of students to review what I teach to the whole class--to make sure that they have a firm understanding of the concepts.
Having a set of Kindle Fire Tablets will be a great tool to use during small group teaching time.
While I am meeting with a small group, other students can use the tablets to read, practice math facts will be able to access many educational apps on the Kindle.
The students in my classroom have limited access to computers and technology at home, so having a tool like this will help them become more computer and technologically literate.
