My adorable kinders attend their neighborhood public school in Louisiana. We are blessed to have many military families as part of our school. The kids in my class have diverse learning styles and abilities, including children with special needs. Our classroom is a place where everyone is encouraged to participate and explore learning though many different avenues, such as singing, hands-on activities, small group games, and technology. As with all kindergarteners, they want to feel special and loved.
In our small learning community, we spend each day discovering new ideas while having fun!
Our class is a safe place where all students, regular and special education, feel included and important. My main goal is for my kiddos to develop a love of learning that stays with them throughout their lives.
My Project
I would love to have books and learning materials to teach my kinders about saving, the value of money, and purchasing and selling items and services. I have chosen educational books that teach about money on an early childhood level. I am also asking for center rotation materials, such as restaurant props, vet supplies, a doctor kit, grocery store items, play money, and a cash register. The students can use these for dramatic play as they "purchase" services and goods. They will enjoy learning about money with the puzzles I am requesting.
Before I became a teacher, I was an accountant.
I know the importance of teaching children about money, consumerism, and finances. Using these amazing hands-on activities will allow my kindergarten students to understand these concepts on their level. We would use these materials during center rotations, which allows students to work together and encourages cooperation, all while they have fun and learn lifelong skills.
