This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very excited about learning. They are all 5 years old right now. They are eager to learn about reading, writing, math, science and art. They love animals, super heroes, princesses, Pete the Cat, Dr. Seuss and many other things.

The school year is just starting and some of my students have been to pre-school and some have not.

We are learning the classroom routines, rules and how to sit on the carpet. They all are ready to learn.

My Project

Having this carpet will make the best learning environment for 5-year-olds to be able to listen and focus on what is being taught. They will know exactly where to sit and be less likely to get into others' personal space.

I have been teaching for 20 years and have tried taping squares on the carpet, using labels with their names, duct tape, and Velcro circles.

None of these things have worked effectively. I have talked to other teachers and they have used this type of carpet that have a square for each student to sit in. I know this carpet would truly benefit my students.
