Help me give my students flashcards, workbooks, picture books, paints, crayons, color books, Wikki Stix and a drawstring bag to keep it all in to help them keep learning at home!
My students are currently doing remote learning with paper packets. We don't have 1-to-1 technology as of yet in our corporation. Although, they are working on it. Most of my students do have access to some type of smart device and are able to do some learning games and activities on line at home using their parents’ devices when available. We have provided a lot of online tools, if they can be accessed, otherwise the packets cover their learning needs. We are able to Zoom once or twice a week and do activities together as a class!
I would love to get some hands-on manipulatives and supplies into their homes to them navigate this uncharted learning adventure.
Unfortunately, we walked out of our buildings the middle of March thinking we would return a few weeks later and have not been able to return. I wish I would have been able to send home crayons, books, and other supplies to provide my students some more materials to aid in their learning. Plus, I hate they are missing out on hand-on learning items that I have in the classroom. I am not sure what types of things they have in their homes.
My Project
This project will give my sweet kindergarten students lots of hands-on activities to keep them active and engaged while they are remotely learning at home. They need these hands-on items to keep their little bodies moving while they are learning. Kindergarten kids need lots of different avenues to learn and I want to keep their brain exploring all sorts of activities even if they are at home. By providing these materials, I will know that they all have these items in their home.
My students need a variety of activities to help keep them engaged and learning while at home.
They love to practice their math facts, so flashcards to use at home with both addition and subtractions will be a huge help, as well as a 1st grade learning workbook to keep them sharp on their skills and get them ready for 1st grade. Wikki Stix, crayons, coloring books, paints, and bubbles will help them with fine motor and great practice with making shapes, designs, and letters. The drawstring bag will help keep their items organized and in an easily accessible place for the kids to find!
