My Students

I am currently teaching one full day Kindergarten class. This is my first year having the students all day instead of half day classes. When I first started, I was very nervous. I had no idea what I would do with my students all day. After a few weeks in, the nerves went away, and I absolutely fell in love it.

I have had the opportunity to see how my students are able to come together despite their differences to learn from one another.

They continually amaze me with how resilient they are and how they are able to overcome many challenging hardships they face in their home lives. I strive to make my classroom a safe space for them to rely on, especially with the uncertainty we face during the pandemic.

My Project

My Kindergarten students have never experienced a "normal" school year, and who knows when and if they ever will. My goal is to keep them motivated and excited to learn even through the uncertain times we face, as well as to teach them soft skills to better cope with their emotions. New classroom books can help me do that.

I have been so amazed at the love my class has for books and reading this year.

They are always so excited for our library time and are constantly wanting to be read to. Unfortunately, as a newer teacher, my classroom library does not have as many books for my students as I would like to have. Books help my young students learn everything from social emotional skills, math, writing, science, and so much more!
