Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our kindergarten students are always SO excited to get hands-on learning experiences, and this is such an amazing opportunity for an authentic experience that creates memories to last a lifetime. Every year, we have returning students telling us that hatching chicks and watching them grow as their favorite lessons of the year.
When students get to see firsthand the different stages of development in the life cycle, you can see the wonder and excitement in their eyes.
Students have the opportunity to candle the eggs, and seeing the embryo start to grow. Then they can see the chicks wiggling inside of the eggs. The best part is watching those baby chicks pip their shells and start "unzipping" the top of the egg to break out! And, of course, the absolute best part is being able to hold and interact with the baby chicks while they reside in the classrooms before heading to the farms!
