There are three main focuses for these boxes of "Brain Break" materials. The materials will support my students academically, creatively, and emotionally. They will give my students the opportunity to practice their skills in a fun and engaging way. Some of the included items also provide extended creative opportunities, and there are items used for calming when the stresses of the day are too much.
My students have been learning from home for over six months, and the upcoming transition to being away from family can be stressful, especially for the littlest learners. It is difficult for learning to happen when you're not feeling safe in your environment, which is why I find it very important to have dedicated materials for coping when emotions are high.
The books listed are developmentally appropriate for my students and are varied in topics, including fiction and non-fiction books. These are great for exploring "good fit" books, building independence, and growing a love of reading. I am striving to make this school year one to remember for all of the right reasons!
