My students live in an urban area, and many of them come from low-income families. This year, I have 32 wonderful five-year olds! The school has grades K4-5th. My students are young, easily engaged, and enthusiastic about school. They are well-behaved and ready to learn how to read! They love working on computers, singing songs, making projects, and helping each other learn.
Our school has limited resources and many families cannot afford basic school supplies needed each year.
This school year we will be doing distance learning for at least the first two months of school. The supplies I am asking for are imperative for their learning at home.
My Project
This school year my students will start off their kindergarten experience online. Milwaukee Public Schools chose distance learning for the first two months of school. To ensure and enhance their learning at home, they need supplies and academic materials to be successful. School supplies like scissors, glue, pencils, and notebooks will enable my students to follow along during lessons, complete assignments, and feel proud and accomplished. Math materials such as ten frames, counters, and dice will allow me to teach hands-on math lessons through Google Meets.
Kindergarten is one of the most important and formative years in school.
It is imperative my students have what they need to succeed at home. During virtual learning, my students will practice concepts such as letter recognition, letter sounds, handwriting, counting 0-20, and addtiion and subtraction.
I would like to create supply bags using these materials for parents to pick up at the school to take home for their children to use. WIth your help, they will be successful!
