This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title 1 school. Our school population consists of English language learners and low income families. They are sweet, loving and capable of so much.

One of my students this year is homeless.

She started the school year late because her family couldn't afford her vaccinations. As a teacher, I want her first educational experience to exceed her expectations.

She needs to know that despite her life circumstances, school is a fun and safe place to learn.

My Project

I really want to engage my students in science. I have a teacher's lab coat and I put it on whenever I teach science. The kids love it. They ask if they can wear it, but I just have the one.

I know if each student had their own lab coat, it would bring science to life.

Parents have returned over the years and said, "You know my child always remembers you wearing the lab coat and doing science." Now, picture the students putting on the lab coats and imagine their excitement for science!

Together we can make this happen!
