Young children need fun, engaging materials as they learn and grow. Kindergarten students learn by doing, and these hands-on manipulatives will help grow readers in my classroom. After mastering individual letter sounds, children start blending sounds to read simple words, and then progress to reading simple sentences, as well.
Literacy manipulatives, such as bubble boards, letter tiles, and puzzles, will provide a fun way for my kindergarteners to practice blending sounds to read words!
The CVC (consonant/vowel/consonant) bubble boards with picture cards, the CVC puzzles, and the word builder cards will help my students to say the beginning, middle, and ending sounds of words. These learning tools will be used during small-group station time when they will learn alongside a classmate who is their learning partner. As my students gain confidence with blending sounds to read CVC words, they will move on to reading sentences and books!
