Kindergarten Scientists!

Help me give my students hands on science centers to foster creativity, exploration, and create life-long learners!

My Students

Kindergarten students are full of life and eager to learn. I am a first-year kindergarten teacher with 20 incoming students with many different learning styles and individual student needs. Kindergarten is such a foundational year in which together in class we are learning to problem solve, think critically, become independent, and make friends!

My Project

Kindergarten students are inquisitive and always excited to learn, especially when it includes hands-on activities. With the ever growing demands in education, science often doesn't get the time it deserves, but with these hands on centers, my goal is to incorporate it in many ways throughout the day as it is so important for our learners. The storage cubbies will be filled with science materials and activities that not will allow my students to not only have the opportunity to have more science materials at their hand, but it will be set up in a way that they can access it independently which will encourage them to explore. The activity table and bookshelf, along with the science books and themed boxes will allow for students to work collaboratively in groups to explore life cycles, weather, plants, and so much more!

On July 25, our little school tragically burnt to the ground, and we lost everything.

While things are slowly being replaced, science materials are what seem to be left in the dust, and the thought of not having this for my students is heart breaking.

The excitement that my students have for learning new things about science is amazing to see, whether it's watching plants grow, waiting for chickens to hatch, or creating our own mini tornados. These hands on projects are helping foster skills such as communication skills, collaborative skills, team working and perseverance, as well as analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
