This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

In my kindergarten class, there is a huge level of energy and enthusiasm. My students come from high poverty and high crime areas. They qualify for the Title I program. I have 22 kindergartners. They are passionate about learning. It takes a lot of resources and supplies to teach them.

My job as an educator is to inspire my students where they love to learn.

Since the closing of schools due to COVID-19, my students are without the basic school resources that they need to continue to learn. This effects their progress for the remaining part of the school year. Students must have access to the basic learning tools and resources in order to fully function in distance learning. As a teacher, my goal is to provide a rich learning environment that has all the necessary resources and supplies. Because of the school closing for the rest of the year, my students will be missing a large part of a rich learning environment that I had provided. I would love to supplement my students learning with these hands on resources and tools. This will in turn provide them with a successful end of the kindergarten school year!

My Project

Because of the recent school closing due to COVID-19, many of my students are at home without vital learning materials. I am requesting basic school supplies like pencils and crayons for picture/story journals used for daily writing projects. Index cards will be used as a tool to learn those 220 sight words that are vital to learning to read in kindergarten through second grade. Individual dry erase boards and markers will be utilized throughout the day with writing,reading, math, science, social studies and problem solving. These dry erase boards will also be used during our virtual learning sessions. These supplies will give my students a fighting chance to finish a successful learning year!
