My Students

My four year olds are blooming authors and illustrators who want to make their own drawings, stories and art, but unfortunately we are very low on basic supplies. Our only glue sticks are moldy!!! Gross! I need your help to inspire these children and help them to love art, reading and writing!

My classroom is made up of 22 fabulous four and five year olds who crave an amazing environment to learn.

I teach Kindergarten 1, a Kindergarten curriculum for four year olds, in a Title I public school. Our school is located in a very urban, poverty stricken community. Many of my students are English Language Learners with very limited English vocabularies. Unfortunately, most of the children do not have fabulous books, markers, scissors and other learning materials at home.

My Project

We need basic art supplies like construction paper, pencils and glue sticks. Having basic writing utensils and art supplies will inspire my students to create art, drawings and stories. They can write stories based on their lives, re-tellings of favorites stories, drawings of events we have at school and beautiful art that helps to express their feelings and emotions. Having enriching, engaging materials will allow them to take pride in themselves and see themselves in the classroom. Lastly, these materials will help my English Language Learners who have limited vocabularies to express their thoughts and feelings.

Our district has made major cutbacks and is unable to supply the materials we need.

The parents of the children I teach have very limited resources and are unable to purchase materials for school. I have also stretched my personal resources very thin and am unable to purchase these wonderful materials. Your donation will truly impact my students lives by increasing their self esteem and enabling them to take pride in their drawing and writing. Thank you so much!
