The pandemic has hit us unlike anything that we've ever seen. Schools, businesses, and parks have all closed down leaving children nowhere to go to have fun, especially in urban areas.
I teach at a Title I school in Knoxville, TN.
We have around 100 kindergartners who are almost all free or reduced lunch. The neighborhood loves their teachers, so let us show them a little love back.
My Project
I've included a ton of Kindergarten math manipulatives that will help the students work on their number sense.
Without a solid understanding of numbers and how they work, it is very hard for a child to become successful in math.
In this project, I'm seeking unix cubes, place value practice mats, shape practice mats, number recognition dice, equabeams, and much more. I'm hoping that by providing these essential tools for learning, parents can help guide their children to success at home and their children can practice what has been taught in school. We all learn better when things are hands-on... and manipulatives will do the trick.
