Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My darling students are kindergarten age kids (age 4-6) from lower income neighborhoods. They are from very sweet families that support my mission to help kids enjoy learning and stay in school!

Half of my students speak another language at home.

Games are the best way for them to talk to other kids and learn English while learning the subject matter. I have an all day kindergarten program, so occupying such young children for 7 hours can be a challenge.

My Project

All of the items in this grant are either a reading or math activity. I have center time each day when the students are split into groups of 4-6 kids and they rotate through 5 centers. Each center has a math or reading/writing activity that the kids can do on their own while I work with a reading group. The kids will love these activities, while learning things that are essential for their growth!

Kindergartners, like all students, learn best by DOING.

Kindergartners learn about 3-D shapes, and geometric puzzles will help them understand. The letter and number puzzles help them recognize and memorize order. The other Brain Games help them learn basic engineering skills.
