This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students are so excited to learn and grow. For many, this is their first opportunity to experience a school setting. Our school community welcomes students and their families from all over the world. We celebrate all cultures and learn from each other.

It is a joy to see my students learn letters, sounds and begin to read.

These students amaze me every day! The majority come from poverty, but they don't let that discourage them. These boys and girls overcome many obstacles as they work hard to lay the foundation of a successful education. They have big dreams and I am there to encourage and support them along the way.

My Project

Learning letters, sounds and the basics of reading starts with hands-on, engaging practice. My students will make huge growth in literacy with the help of the puzzles, games, letter magnets and flannel board stories. The CD players and headphones will allow my kindergartners to listen to many stories and develop an understanding of print voice match along with a love of books.

My kids need your help!

My school is located in a high poverty area near downtown Denver. Most of these students are unable to bring school supplies. With the paints and construction paper, my kindergartners will be able to create and explore!
