Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The young learners in my classroom are excited and ready to learn each day. I teach in a Kindergarten classroom in urban Massachusetts. My class is made up of predominantly students of color, including English Language Learners who speak another language at home.

They are a wonderfully fun and enthusiastic bunch that despite challenges are excited to learn and grow.

Kindergarten is often the first school experience for many of my students and I am honored to be a part of their foundation to a lifetime of learning.

My Project

Kindergarten is the foundation of learning! In my classroom, we work on so much beyond academics, from self-help and life skills like learning how to take-turns, get around the school, and take care of our belongings, to social emotional learning and how to be a good friend. One area I am excited to teach my students more about is 21st Century Skills, specifically coding!

Coding is a basic literacy in the digital age, and it is important for kids to understand and be able to work with and understand the technology around them.

Having children learn coding at a young age prepares them for the future. Coding helps children with communication, creativity, math, writing, and confidence! Bee-Bots will not only allow for coding lessons, but I am excited to tie in activities from our whole curricula to coding lessons. These materials have been research to ensure their use and effectiveness in our classroom for years to come and I appreciate your time and consideration in helping to purchase these materials for my young learners!
