My students are excited and enthusiastic about learning. My students are ready to start their first year in school with a bang! In kindergarten, we will create the base for all future learning. As a teacher in a school which serves many students coming from low income/high poverty families, it is important to me to make sure all of my students feel they are equipped with the tools necessary to be successful learners. In addition, it is crucial to give my students every opportunity possible to become life long learners.
My Project
Many of my students will enter this year without attending any prior schooling. It is important to make this year a fun, educational, and enjoyable experience for them. In order to make this a reality these materials will help make learning fun for my students.
The best learning happens when students don't know it is happening because they are having too much fun!
The games chosen for my students can be used in teacher directed centers then eventually used in independent centers. In addition, the different games and activities will allow for differentiation. For my fragile learners, they will be able to practice with capitals and lowercase letter using the Alpha Pops, Alligator, and Acorn Alphabet matching games. The students who mastered their letter identification, they will enjoy playing Alphabet Soup Sorter to identify beginning sounds along with several sight word games to help them begin their reading journey. Sight Word Swat, Fishing for Sight words, Pop, and Zingo are all different and engaging ways for my students to practice recalling sight words.
