Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a hardworking group of kids who strive to be learners, readers, and thinkers. My students attend a high poverty school in which 100% of students qualify for free lunch. They are eager learners, despite some of the difficult challenges they face on a daily basis.
One of my students' favorite parts of the day is our morning meeting time where we spend time together building community and learning how to get along, work together, and become family at school.
Most of my students' parents work full time and struggle with the English Language, so although they want to help their children, many struggle with how to accomplish this. My students' parents want their children to succeed in school so they can have a better life!
My Project
End of the school year means time to finish another year and plan for the beginning of a new year. As we look around at broken crayons and chewed pencils, it is time for new beginnings. Our table pins have writing on them and our book bins are breaking.
New fat kindergarten crayons and pencils with erasers make kids want to write and draw beautiful pictures.
Many of my new students have never held pencils or colored. And kindergarten scissors that are not covered with last years glue help students enjoy cutting for the first time. Make our year great!!
