Help me give my students a fun, hands-on experience in learning Math concepts such as number sense, operations, and shapes. For sure, they will enjoy counting and building a 3D structure with the Ultimate Fort Builder.
My active kindergartners come to school eager to learn new things from me and from each other. Although about a third of my class does not speak English at home, they attend class ready to immerse and participate in learning.
I teach in a small Title 1 school with a population of about 400 students.
Our students receive free breakfast and most of our students receive free or reduced lunch.
Despite challenges, our students are destined for success because we believe in them! They can do it!
My Project
My students will use the Ultimate Fort Builder, Nuts about Counting, and the Numbers & Counting Magnetic Activity daily at math centers. They will have hands on experience with making 3D shapes from 2D shapes as they explore the poles (sides) and connectors (vertices).
My kindergartners will be engaged in counting concrete materials and building fun designs for their fort.
As they build, they will also use numbers in their conversations.
The fort builder and play dough will also encourage creativity, hands-on exploration and open-ended building. Other requested counting activities include hands-on practice with counting, matching numbers to quantities and sequencing.
Students will use the play dough with our classroom counting dough mats. An activity that not only promotes counting but fine motor skills, as well.
