My students need leveled library cart, leveled reading books, storage bins, language and math learning center activities and games, and one Califone Tabletop Audio Pod for a listening center.
A typical day in our Kindergarten classroom is learning at centers. The children learn best working in groups and with various hands-on materials. All of the students come in at different levels and it is the teacher's challenge to meet those needs. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.
Our school has seven Kindergarten classrooms with about 21 students in each.
The students come from middle income families. The community is a small community in central Illinois. The population is about 15,000. The parents are very supportive of the school and they want what is best for their children. The children come into Kindergarten with various learning abilities. It is the Kindergarten teachers' challenge to meet the needs of all the students. The children learn best through hands-on materials and engaging with one another.
My Project
The students will be able to interact with one another and learn from one another. The games will be very helpful to teach and re-enforce basic math and early literacy skills. Small groups of students will be engaged in hands-on activities to practice letters, numbers, rhyming, vocabulary, building words, and reading at their levels. The students will enjoy learning each day with these new materials. The leveled library mobile cart and book bins will help organize the Guided Reading books in the classrooms. Our school has implemented a guided reading curriculum this school year. The teachers need organizational materials to help the students find the right book for them.
The donations will improve the classroom by providing resources for each classroom.
The leveled library cart will help the teacher and student organize the Guided Reading books so students will know exactly what books they can read. The various Math and Literacy games will increase the students' knowledge of Kindergarten concepts. Overall, the materials being donated will help all 7 Kindergarten classrooms for the better.
