My Students
My students are ambitious young people who are concerned and interested in learning about our environment. Our school is located in the area of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This is one of the most fascinating places to live in the world. There is a variety of diversity in terms of cultures and socioeconomic status. Through community learning, they want to work hard to prepare gardens for spring plantings around the schoolyard. They don't mind getting their hands dirty or using their strength to pull weeds and carry heavy items. These students may become our future farmers of tomorrow, and what they are learning now is invaluable to us and them. To see their excitement as they prepare and watch our gardens grow is so fulfilling as teachers and having a love for gardening. Please help to continue their growth and interest in our school community, environment and in nature itself.
My Project
My students are curious about gardening! We have young readers and they are looking for new gardening projects that will help to reduce waste and grow plants. In my library students have non-fiction books to read about gardening. We would like to start a garden at our school to bring the skills of the books to life. We are requesting tools needed to start a beautiful garden. We want to preserve our planet and learn how to grow flowers in our courtyard. If we could get materials to start planting, cultivating and gardening, I think it would be a wonderful way for students to put what they have read into action by becoming life long producers of gardening skills.
